Root Cause

  • Contactless transaction limit exceeded: The transaction amount exceeded the allowed limit for contactless payments, triggering a fallback to another method.
  • Card issuer security policy: The issuer requires additional authentication for certain transactions, disabling contactless for this attempt.
  • Technical issues with NFC/Contactless reader: The payment terminal failed to properly read the card using contactless mode.
  • Fallback triggered but not completed: The customer did not proceed with the fallback method (chip insert, PIN entry, or swipe).
