Root Cause

  • Transaction processing exceeded time limits: The gateway or downstream system did not respond within the expected timeframe, resulting in a timeout.

  • Network latency or instability: Poor network connectivity caused delays in communication between the gateway and underlying systems or the gateway and Chargebee

  • High server load on gateway: The payment gateway experienced heavy traffic, delaying transaction responses.

  • Unoptimized request handling: Large or complex requests took too long to process, leading to timeouts.

Troubleshooting and Solutions

  • Ask the customer to retry the payment after a short wait.

  • If this issue is related to a specific payment method, recommend that customers use a different payment method.
